Not-so-Viral Selections #1

Keeping up with COVID-19

At the outset of the pandemic, when we (those of us who could) enclosed ourselves into self-quarantine, we reassured ourselves and eachother, “We’re all in this together.” We still are; albeit frazzled by our enclosures, numbed by the anxieties of economic lockdown, and appalled at the plight of those whose lives are already upended without safety nets. Amidst all this, we have started to get the distinct feeling that the world will change at the end of this. This pandemic, like others before it, “is a portal, a gateway between one world and the next” (Arundhati Roy).

But where is this next? What path are we currently on? All this is constantly being discussed in the relentless media sphere. Inspired by projects which are curating international articles and essays, we decided to curate a daily selection of articles pertaining to India that we recommend. Chosen from the range of reading done by the diverse HUL team, we will highlight opinions and stories that are new, poignant, insightful, and which miss going viral. We are doing this as part of our own archiving of this extraordinary time, and hopefully as an aid to anyone seeking to parse the information glut.
